It is a massive dream come true to now be working as an author!
I hope that my stories are as memorable and enjoyable as Jill Murphy’s wonderful tales were for me as a child.
I was born in 1984 in Plymouth and raised in South Liverpool. As a child, I was never that keen on reading myself but I have always been mesmerised by listening to a good story. I grew up with the tales of Roald Dahl, The Pongwiffy series by Kaye Umansky and classics such as Stig of the Dump (A Puffin Book) by Clive King.
Around the age of seventeen, my love of reading began and I went on to study English Literature and Language at university. Since then, I have trained as a Primary school teacher and have spent three wonderful years living and teaching in Italy. It was there in 2013 that I began writing for children.
I am now back living in Liverpool with my new writing companion, Chester the dog (pictured above). Sometimes he is more of a distraction than a help though, as he is very cute!
So far, I have written a number of picture book stories and I am currently working on some middle grade chapter books for older children.
I can often be found in local libraries, sitting on small chairs, making my way through a giant pile of picture books (whilst trying to blend in).
